College admissions are right around the corner for Juniors, and while it might be tempting to put off the process until the summer, here at The Koppelman Group think there's no better time to start than now.
Students who come to us senior year already have most, if not all, the extracurriculars, interests, and resume items that they’ll have when they apply. This might become a hurdle if they weren’t able to build our their hobbies or define their interests in high school. Thankfully, by joining TKG in junior year, we are able to help you build out your interests to best reflect who you are to prospective schools.
One of our past clients, Sarah, came to us junior year with little idea of where she wanted to go to school or what she wanted to study. We pinpointed two of her interests: reading and jewelry making. Through her passion for books, we got her signed up for a few creative writing classes to see if that interested her more, and we helped her launch an Etsy business to promote and sell her handcrafted jewelry and pottery. Because of the success she found through Etsy, Sarah enrolled in an entrepreneurship course online and started attending trunk shows. By exploring these hobbies further, Sarah realized she had a passion for more creative endeavors.
We were able to get to know Sarah and what she had a passion for, so when it came time to create a college list and declare a major, she knew exactly what she wanted to do and we were able to help her pick colleges that were the right fit for her. Sarah ended up at Smith College where she studied Writing and Art.
We help juniors hone their passions and help them add things to their resume that demonstrate a real interest in what they want to study. While a student can be crazy for chemistry at school, they need something on their resume that helps show prospective colleges that they’ve put in the work to know they really love chemistry. We help students take measurable steps to prove that they’ve materialized their interests, and help them brainstorm ways to do so that are realistic and reflective of them.
Our services are not the same that a school counselor could provide. They are concerned with their own statistics and where hundreds of kids might attend college and the perceived prestige that comes with that. We are concerned with one student: the client. By coming on board with TKG, you will get personalized, tailored, one-on-one assistance that ensures the right cultural and academic fit for each student.
